Preface

A brief introduction to this blog.

Extract from the in-depth interview with the author of this blog:
What does Greetings from the Centre mean? What does Yoda’s Couch mean? What are the Salons?
What is the motivation? What is the intellectual background? What does post-integrative mean? And what is the moral of the story?

Another website! Is that necessary?
With ‘Yoda’s Couch’ it becomes clear: I couldn’t resist the temptation! Ramana Maharshi would ask: ‘Which part of us is it that wants to run a blog?’ Yoda says: ‘Do or do not – There is no try’.

What is the motivation?
Challenge, assessment, ‘jogging for the brain’, ‘mind reset’ and also curiosity (the hunger for something new).

What is the intellectual background?
In my thinking, I am eclectic: a mixture of different schools of thought. My favourite music is fusion: a mixture of different musical styles. I like to call current affairs „postintegrative» : the concepts remain independent and are in dialogue with each other. Individual models revolve around the same realities. The thinking is free… the reality is binding!

What does ‘Greetings from the Centre’ mean?
When different schools of thought enter into a dialogue, polarity and conflict arise. This creates a field of tension with a centre: a place where everything is, while at the same time everything is not. In this field of tension, our constant exercise is to find the balance of the centre.

What happens in the ‹middle›?
In the middle we feel our own diversity and inner conflicts. In this place of mixed feelings, we initially feel confined and anxious. If we can endure this, a value-neutral space can emerge.

The dialogue in this middle ground is ‹good enough› and better than the war of the extremes.

Why a ‹Salon›?
For me, the fictional salon is a theatre stage: an ideal place to formulate my ideas in the form of conversations. In my Salon, the various hypotheses are presented by speakers (characters from reality and fiction). The different aspects are reflected in the debate. I want to celebrate this bazaar of ideas.

What does the name ‹Yoda’s Couch› mean?
The name represents the relationship between Zen and psychoanalysis. I really enjoy exploring the space between these two polarities. Yoda’s Couch is a fusion of Zen and psychoanalysis.

And the moral of the story?
There are different worldviews and doctrines: none is right, none is wrong! Taken alone, they describe what it means to be human and how we live together from their respective perspectives. In dialogue with each other, they create a broader context in which we can experience ourselves holistically.

It is in this field of relationships that we oscillate around the centre – until it speaks to us:

it is
neither the neither-nor
nor the both
it is both
the neither-nor
and the both

The character Fitz from the TV series ‹Cracker› says it best:
